Two Beers Brewing Canadian Launch Party @ Pumphouse Pub

Last Saturday, I was lucky enough to attend the Canadian launch party of Two Beers Brewing from Seattle at the Pumphouse Pub in Richmond.

Their Canadian launch lineup featured the following lineup of beers:

SoDo Brown Ale
Immersion Amber Ale
Evolutionary IPA
Heart Of Darkness Cascadian Dark Ale

I’m sitting here drinking a Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA and felt compelled to blog about our third long table at the Pumphouse Pub on January 20, 2012. It was a great pairing with Bad Beer Lite… kidding, of course, it was the big Bear itself. It was our first introduction to the Bear Republicline, and they have two new fans.

This brewery from Healdsburg, CA has a great line up of ales and touts on their label that they’re independent since 1995, and I suspect proud of it. KEEP READING HERE

The city of Vancouver has become quite the “happening” place in the last few years. There are so many pubs and restaurants that serve a great selection of craft beer, and it seems like every week there’s a special event going on. However, some of the neighbouring cities in The Lower Mainland have nothing good going on at all. One place we should all be shaking our fingers at for the lack of craft beer would have to be Burnaby.

When it comes to craft beer, there’s nothing quite as disappointing as Burnaby. Everywhere you go it’s all chain stores serving Molson and Budweiser and so on. So where is there to go? Well, luckily for all the beer nerds in the Burnaby area, there’s the Hop and Vine.

Think of a neighbourhood pub in BC and it’s usually not that difficult to predict what you’re going to find – a wide selection of industrial lager, lots of fried food, a pool table, and televisions. When we heard that the Pumphouse in Richmond, along with everyone’s favourite guys at Beerthirst, was having along table on NYE, we jumped on it! You had me at long table…

Pumphouse Pub & Beerthirst Long Table: A hoppingly bitter evening or Does that guy have a bucket on his head?

Last night I attended a long table dinner hosted by Beerthirst and held at the Pumphouse Pub in Richmond. It was my first time to this pub, which is housed in an old fire hall and located right near the busy heart of Richmond. The Pumphouse Pub has a really nice ambience; stone fireplace, lots of wood, old fire hall photos and paraphernalia, large bar and even space for live music. Luckily there are some people who do things right, because a lot of people still don’t get it. You see, some people don’t understand that just because you carry 50 different beers, it doesn’t mean you carry a variety of beers. If you’re one of those pubs or restaurants that carry 50 different lagers and pale ales, you may have a variety of brands, but not a variety of beers. Unless you have a proper beer list, there’s no point in having so many beers on the menu.
